How you present yourself in both the written submission and in an interview influence whether you advance in the search process. Learn from the ACCT Search Team what boards, colleges, districts, and systems look for when assessing candidates and how you can best present yourself to a search committee and governing board.
Participate in this workshop to gain an in-depth understanding of the search process, and to better prepare for this critical journey. The complete spectrum of steps, throughout the CEO search, will be analyzed in the order they take place in real life, and you will put into action what you are learning!

The Chair’s Academy: The Board Chair, Leading with Integrity
This program will explore the characteristics of a board chair in leading an effective and cohesive board. The program will help to clarify and reinforce the role of the chair which includes, resolving conflict, running an effective meeting, promoting ethical behavior, managing crisis, and strengthening the Board-CEO relationship. The program will include a mix of case studies, panel discussion, and expert advice to provide the board chair with the tools they need to be effective. (Includes lunch).

Effective Board Governance
This Academy will provide the opportunity for community college boards and presidents to examine what they perceive to be their current strengths and areas for improvement in meeting the college mission, and to envision a productive future. This session will review what boards have done well and how they could be more effective in a crisis, all within their role of policy and governance. Topics will include, the Board’s governance role; the Board’s expectations of the college president; the Board’s perception of the future of the community college; and strategies regarding how Boards may improve their governance function in the years to come. (Includes lunch).
