Jonathan Elkin
Director of Government Relations

Jonathan Elkin serves as Director of Government Relations for the Association of Community College Trustees. In this role, he works closely with ACCT’s member trustees at community colleges nationwide, advocating for federal student aid and other supports for community college students.

Prior to joining ACCT, Jonathan worked for eight years as an education staffer in the U.S. House and Senate – including working with ACCT to introduce and enact bipartisan legislation restoring Year-Round Pell Grants. After Capitol Hill, Jonathan helped expand bipartisan congressional support and increase funding for the Federal TRIO Programs for college access and success, and he advocated to protect and strengthen student aid programs with the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. 

Jonathan holds a B.A. in public policy from Stanford University and a master’s in teaching from Pace University, which he earned while teaching middle school math in the South Bronx, NY. Originally from Los Angeles, Jonathan now lives in Washington, DC.
