New Carnegie Classifications: Community College Impacts and Opportunities

The American Council on Education (ACE) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (Carnegie Foundation) recently published the latest in a series of updates to the Carnegie Classifications. The redesigned system includes a revision of the historic Basic Classification, now titled the Institutional Classification, and a newly developed Student Access and Earnings Classification, which will be of particular interest to community colleges.  Join Mushtaq Gunja, executive director of the Carnegie Classification systems and ACE senior vice president to learn about impacts and opportunities for the community college sector. Student Loan Cohort Default Rates: How they can negatively impact community colleges
For the first time in nearly five years, the federal government will begin collecting on defaulted students loans. This impacts over 5 million borrowers with an additional 9 million borrowers in danger of default.  The return to student loan repayment and collections impacts colleges and future cohort default rates.
