Serving as a Bridge: Community College Skills-Based Hiring Playbook

Skills-Based Hiring

August 15, 2024

Community colleges and our government agencies are both natural partners in the mission to drive economic mobility for individuals Skilled Through Alternative Routes (STARs). These institutions are essential training providers that are deeply embedded in their local labor markets and economies. During this webinar, ACCT and Opportunity@Work will share insights from the Skills-Based Hiring Initiative and releasing two new resources: Community College Skills-Based Hiring Playbook and Charting New Career Pathways: Partnering with Community Colleges in Maryland on Skills-Based Hiring (case study).

The purpose of the Playbook is to enable community college leaders to more easily ensure that pathways for STARs are clear, remunerative, and navigable. The case study highlights ACCT’s Skills-Based Hiring Initiative in Maryland along with lessons learned that can guide community colleges as they look to partner with the Public Sector. Additionally, we will be joined by a community college leader that will share how community colleges are already preparing to utilize the Playbook.
